Stats: September crushed all records

October 1, 2007

Considering September had a full week of vacations for our readers in Chile – which is where most of our traffic comes from – we had an impressive month. All our sites broke their all time records, being the most succesful, ChileHardware.

ChileHardware had a pretty interesting effect. During the last week we´ve been receiving tens of thousands of visitors looking for a video, this video was discussed in our off-topic forum and Google Indexed with a great priority. The video features a high school girl, performing a bj on a friend. This was in a public area and the girl had only 15 years, so the mainstream news got the story and all the perverts are looking for the video. Of course the video is not published in our site, but that doesn´t stop pervs from looking for it.

With this traffic impact we managed to get to 937885 unique visitors, an improvement close to 40% or last months period.

TecnoSquad also had a great month. It received over 176,000 unique readers and broke it´s all time record. On it´s first anniversary we are also introducing some changes. We won´t be covering videogames in TecnoSquad, to cover al gaming related news and articles, we are launching a new weblog called BotonTurbo. We already moved all our gaming posts to the new website, redirected links and launched it with a beta design. A freelance designer is working on a new template and logo for TecnoSquad and after he finishes – which I hope should be the next 10 days – he will start working with BotonTurbo´s image.

On the meantime you can see the first preview of TecnoSquad´s new logo. It still need some minor details but this is something it might look like:

This month I´m also adding UrbanPower.cl to my stats. It´s a weblog that was ran by an online friend, but was left alone after my friend couldn´t give it the time to write on it. We made a joint-venture a couple of months ago and this month we finally moved it to a proper hosting. With the new hosting – based at The Planet just like it´s bigger brothers – and a new editorial team, the new site is growing and we have great expectations for it. We hope to work on the design before the year ends.

The Network

As you see we are trying to consolidate our know how learnt from year running ChileHardware, to a network of weblogs and sites. I´ve been studying this model for sometime know, and found several failures we will try to avoid. We don´t have plans on launching new websites on the next months, until our new blogs consolidate their traffic (100k uniques a month). I hope that should happen sometime during Q2 2008.
