BlogPower: Great event!

BlogPower was a huge success this last Saturday. The agenda was ran perfectly and we had lots of fun and what´s best, networking. I had the chance of meeting many interesting people, of which I only knew before for what they write in their weblogs, twitters, tumblelogs and flickrs. Our roundtable was one of the most commented, and it looks people had fun and understood they can earn some money from what they like, writing.

Overall a great event. Some problems with the WiFi connection although I´ve never been to a conference or event with a flawless one and trust me, I´ve been to many. I´m really looking forward for the next one. You can check pictures of the event at this Flickr Pool.

BlogPower

The 1st of december we are having a blog conference in Santiago, Chile. It´s name is BlogPower and it´s supposed to be the first out of many events the people behind this are planning. I´m invited as part of one of the roundtables, which will be moderated by my friend Manuel.

On related news, I had a late meeting yesterday which was quite succesful. I will have great news in the short term, which unfortunately I cannot disclose now. We still have to fix some stuff and I´m in negotiations with a domain owner.

Back to Argentina

I just finished a pretty weird monday. Anyways, my weekend was great, on Friday we went to Creamfields, where Chemical Brothers and Carl Cox did their thing. A friend gave me some VIP tickets, and for our luck, it had a full open bar, so we had a great time and of course the night end up quite crazy. On saturday I went to a BBQ where we had a great dinner, and after ir, we had a special guest, our old friend Jack Daniel.

Tomorrow I´m heading back again to Buenos Aires, Argentina. This is time I´m atttending Intel Editor´s Day which will be held in Rosario, Argentina. The event starts on Wednesday and our bus to Rosario departs very early, so we are leaving one day before.

I will have to go back to Buenos Aires on the end of this month, 29th and 30th, and if things go well, I should go in between this week and the 29th trip.  Because Chile is so small, many manufacturers decide to throw their press events at Buenos Aires, which is a bigger market, and fly journos there. It´s a good trick, an probably cheaper, although we´ve arrived late to more than one. That´s why it´s always better flying the day before.

PS: Slashdot only moved something around 2000 uniques to our site. Not too bad although less than we expected.

Blogging chit-chat with Nokia´s VP of Multimedia

During my stay in Buenos Aires I had the chance to be in a panel with Nokia´s VP of Multimedia, Mark Selby. We talked about content, technology, web 2.0 and social content. My friends at MobileCloseUp recorded it, and you can see the first part of the presentation in this video.

I´m feeling a lot more comfortable about talking in public, I think I´m doing much better than in the past. I will also be speaking at a LANParty in two more weeks, which I hope will help in my experience talking to large crowds.

Blogging tip Meme

Thomas just tagged me for the blogging tip Meme. I wasn´t here for a while so I´m catching up with memes and trains. But don´t start crying, I just wrote some posts for the rest of the week… I mean real posts :D

I didn´t tag many people, I´m kind of new in the blogsphere, but well, the ones I wanted to tag where already tagged :(

-Start Copy-

It’s very simple. When this is passed on to you, copy the whole thing, skim the list and put a * star beside those that you like. (Check out especially the * starred ones.)

Add the next number (1. 2. 3. 4. 5., etc.) and write your own blogging tip for other bloggers.

Try to make your tip general.

After that, tag 10 other people. Link love some friends!

Just think– if 10 people start this, the 10 people pass it onto another 10 people, you have 100 links already!

Geek Train – Jump in!

I just jumped in the Geek Train. Rules are simple, just copy it and jump in ;)

———- START COPYING HERE ———-

Geek Train – All aboard!

1 – Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and linkback to the blog(s) that put you on the list in the paragraph. You MUST do this. No-one plans on getting slapped for duplicate content any time soon, do they?

2 – Next, copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your own blog. If you’d like a different keyword for your blog then change it, when you do your post, and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword, provided the train keeps on spreading.

3 – Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4 – Add at least three new favourite blogs of yours to keep the train going, e-mail the blog owners (or comment on one of their posts) and insist that they post.

My Adds:

(The technophile) Kristopher Kubicki
(The young) Carl Ocab
(The amazing) Thomas de Maesschalck

The Originals:

(The entrepreneur) Francisco Diez
(The thinking computer) Bob Buskirk
(The money saver) LuLuGal
(The flipping rich) Derrik Dyka
(The thinker) Betshopboy
(The blogging tipper) Garry Conn
(The kick-ass) Nate Whitehill
(The original) 13-Year Old Blogger
(The money-making) Affiliate Marketing guide
(The overclocker) Shawn Knight
(The incredible) Chris Hooley
(The rhetorical) Michael Kwan
(The talented) Leo Chiang
(The root of all evil) John Chow
(The business dude) Josh Mullineaux
(The brilliant) Shoemoney
(The absurdly loud) Ed Lau
(The mastermind) Jon Waraas
(The yaketty) Stephen Fung
(The wickedly cool) Everton Blair
(The uber blogger) Ms Danielle
(The AdSense magician) Michael Cheney
(The enterprising) Matt Coddington
(The career minded) Jane May
(The legendary) Gary Lee
(The nifty) Dosh Dosh
(The ambitious) Jeff Kee
(The crafty two at) TechRave

This link train is the brainchild of David Wilkinson, hyper, money-making kid, and kick-ass blog designer Nate Whitehill.

Blogging: New Strategy

I will be adopting a new strategy towards my blog, I´ll try to write during weekends and program posts to publish during the week. This is the only way I will be able to post periodically. In fact the post you are reading right now was written in Sunday afternoon.

I really enjoy blogging but the fact that I´m working in two worksites and studying at the same time doesn´t make things easy. I can´t swear that I will post everyday, but trust me I write as much as I can.

Fast Track 5: Sunday Night Live

Shawn teaches you how to make False Infrared Color photographs. If you are into photography it´s definitely worth a try.

Wil Harris, former editor of Bit-Tech.net, is on a diet and finally made it to 210 pounds. Read his thoughts on his milestone.

Bob missed Computex and at the same time Stephen is showing off the freebies he got at the show.

John is showing off some fine chit at his blog.

Ed Lau reviews Ocean´s Thirteen.

Leo goes to a seminar and ends up eating a girls candy necklace.

Last but not least, Ms. Danielle won a Microsoft Zune at JohnChow.com and decided to give it away again. ¡That´s evil^2! I don´t want to participate because winning a Zune would be quite a headache considering international shipping, but if you live in northamerica, you should give it a try, ¿who knows if you can win something to give away at your blog? :D

The MyBlogLog Community Train

I was added in The MyBlogLog Community Train and didn´t even noticed it. I usually think most web 2.0 startups are overated, but MyBlogLog is a great tool for lonely bloggers who want to know other weblogs and make friends in the blogsphere. I just checked my MBL (not Major League Baseball) stats and I have 33 members in my community :D . Maybe you will jump on the train later, now here are the rules:

***Start Copying Here:***

Here are the rules:

1) Write a short introduction about how you found this list and include a link back to that blog.

2) COPY the rules and ENTIRE list below and post it on your blog.
